Narrow streets, veggie and fusion shops and local run bars are the main ingredients of the Raval Area.

This is the reason why we propose to discover it in a Food Tour.

Do you know the difference between Serrano ham and Iberian ham? Do you know what is the Origin of Tapas? And how many wine regions are in Catalonia? At the end of this tour, all the answers will we yes!

In this tour around the Raval area you will:

  • Explore the Boqueria Market, learning about its history while walking around its flashy stalls. You will learn about the most important ingredients of our cuisine as well as make a compared ham tasting.
  • Discover one of the hidden gems of the area: a garden which is an Oasis in the middle of the city life. It belongs to a Gothic building with a magnificent cloister.
  • Stop in two different venues where you will enjoy their specialties as well as their wine -or beer- pairing (nonalcoholic drinks available as well).

The Barcelona Foodie Tour: Raval Edition step-by-step

You will start this itinerary with your local guide exploring the Boqueria Market where its abundant stalls will show you how we eat, and very important, how we live! Welcome to a lush jungle of fresh fish, ham, fruits and vegetables. This is where you will taste serrano and Iberian ham to find the differences (and similarities).

After this first approach to the local gastronomy an appetizing vermouth awaits! You will travel back in time thanks to the decoration, the music and the customer care of this hundred-years-old bar and restaurant. Why do we drink vermouth before meals? How is it done? The answers: the day of the tour.

The second venue of this tour will be a popular and beloved venue where we can say, without being wrong, that “this is where the locals go”. Modern, trendy, design, innovative those are some words to define the place. What about the food? Delicious, made with love and healthy.

Which are the best hours to have a Foodie tour in Barcelona?

As you probably know, we use to have our meals quite late. In fact, the Spanish hours are often a topic of conversation. In addition, the places where we have selected for this one open only in the evenings. This is the reason why propose to start the tour around 6 p.m.

About the weekdays, the closest to the weekend, the better. On Sundays this tour is not available.

Are you on a cruise-ship?

In this case, the meeting point would be at the Pier. The guide will wait for you at the exit of the ship holding a sign with your name on it. In order to make the most of the tour, you will reach the starting point by taxi.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!

We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
