The Ultimate Raval Food Experience: From Tradition to Innovation

El Raval is a neighborhood of contrasts—a place where history and modernity collide in a delicious explosion of culture. Our journey begins at the legendary La Boqueria Market. While many tourists get lost in its crowds, your local guide will lead you through the “lush jungle” of stalls to find the true artisans. Here, you will experience a masterclass in Spanish flavors with an exclusive tasting of 100% Acorn-fed Iberian Ham (Jamón Ibérico), learning the art of identifying world-class quality by aroma and texture.

As we move deeper into the winding streets of the Raval, we transition from the bustle of the market to the sacred “Ritual of Vermouth.” We’ll step inside a centennial bar—a hidden sanctuary of wood and marble where time has stood still for over a century. You’ll learn why this botanical wine is the social glue of the city and enjoy the perfect pour alongside traditional snacks, just as locals have done for generations.

The finale of our tour brings you into the 21st century. We skip the generic menus and head to a hand-picked, trendy venue beloved by the city’s culinary insiders. This is where tradition meets innovation. You will feast on contemporary tapas that prioritize “real food”—healthy, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients that reflect the evolving spirit of Barcelona. By the end of the tour, you won’t just have a full stomach; you’ll have a profound understanding of how we eat, socialize, and celebrate life in this Mediterranean jewel.

Is the food included in the price?

Yes. The prices change according to the number of people in your party. We prefer to include food this way you know the final price. However, drinks and food won’t be ordered beforehand. Once you arrive to each venue, the guide will give you the options you have to choose what fits better your taste. One advice: be adventurous! We’re sure you’ll make amazing discoveries.

In this Barcelona Foodie Tour – Raval Edition – You will taste a vermut, and some wine. Tapas, platillos and other specialities will be paired with the drinks. You won’t need to have lunch or dinner after the tour.

Are there some explanations about the neighbourhood as well?

Yes, since we are a team of guides who happens to be foodies as well, we will unveil you the history of the neighbourhood when we go from one venue to the other. The old Gothic cloister, the Boqueria Market or the Rambla del Raval will you take several centuries back in time.

Which are the best hours to have a Foodie tour in Barcelona?

As you probably know, we use to have our meals quite late. In fact, the Spanish hours are often a topic of conversation. In addition, the places where we have selected for this one open only in the evenings. This is the reason why propose to start the tour around 6 p.m.

About the weekdays, the closest to the weekend, the better. On Sundays this tour is not available.

Are you on a cruise-ship?

In this case, the meeting point would be at the Pier. The guide will wait for you at the exit of the ship holding a sign with your name on it. In order to make the most of the tour, you will reach the starting point by taxi.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!

We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
