The Route of Genius: A Detailed Itinerary

Our walking tour is a carefully paced narrative, designed to show you how Barcelona transformed from a walled medieval city into the avant-garde capital of the Mediterranean.

The Battle of Styles: Illa de la Discòrdia

We begin on Passeig de Gràcia, the runway of the 19th-century bourgeoisie. Here, we analyze the famous “Block of Discord.” You will compare the organic, ocean-inspired Casa Batlló by Gaudí with the neo-Gothic chocolate-box elegance of Casa Amatller and the floral exuberance of Casa Lleó i Morera. It’s a crash course in the creative rivalry that defined an era.

The Stone Quarry: Casa Milà (La Pedrera)

A short stroll takes us to the undulating stone waves of La Pedrera. We will discuss why this building was once mocked by locals and how it eventually became a UNESCO World Heritage site. You’ll learn about the revolutionary “free plan” construction and the chimneys that look like silent guardians on the roof.

Eixample: The City of the Future

Leaving the main boulevard, we venture into the heart of the Eixample district. This is where you’ll see the “Barcelona of the locals.” We’ll explore Ildefons Cerdà’s visionary grid system—its chamfered corners, hidden interior patios, and the new “Green Axes” (Superblocks) that are reclaiming the streets for pedestrians today.

The Grand Finale: La Sagrada Família

We conclude our journey at the foot of the world’s most famous construction site. Rather than just seeing a church, you will understand a “Stone Bible.” We will break down the symbolism of the Nativity and Passion facades and discuss the cutting-edge technology being used to finally complete Gaudí’s vision.

If you travel with kids

This tour is great for them, specially for teens. All the family will be carried away by Gaudi’s shapes and colors. Besides, the explanations are done in a sparkling way, this way you won’t be bored.

In this tour we will walk along the Passeig de Gracia (about one mile) and then towards the Sagrada Familia. Depending on the timing or how tired you are we will take the subway.

Are you on a cruise-ship?

In this case, the meeting point would be at the Pier. The guide will wait for you at the exit of the ship holding a sign with your name on it. Once meeting the guide, you will take a taxi towards the city center.

Barcelona isn’t just a city of stone; it’s a living story that breathes through its architecture. I’d love to guide you beyond the famous facades, from the elegance of Passeig de Gràcia to the soul of the Sagrada Família. Together, we’ll discover the Eixample’s heartbeat and its constant evolution. Come and experience my Barcelona.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!

We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!

Isabel N.

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
