Visit the Raval district, Montjuic and the Miró Foundation with a local guide
The Old Barcelona is one of the most visited places in Barcelona. The Gothic Quarter and the Ribera appear in most guides written about Barcelona. However, there is still a neighborhood that is also part of old Barcelona and that retains its authenticity: it is the district of Raval.
With more than 300 cultural entities, the Raval has become a reference for the city in terms of art galleries, craft workshops and trendy shops. We propose an itinerary that will make you discover the fascinating history of the neighborhood and some of its legends.
The Casa de la Caritat, the former Santa Creu Hospital, Sant Pau del Camp and the Boqueria Market are just some of the highlights of the first part of the route. In addition, we will open the doors of one of the workshops in the neighborhood to learn more about the evolution of arts and crafts.
The second part of this guided tour in French takes us to Montjuic with a funicular. Once at the top you will enjoy the views as well as a tour of the Miró Foundation with your Barcelona guide.
Why a guided tour around the Raval district?
☛First of all, by its location: the Raval starts at Catalunya Square then along the Ramblas facing the Gotico and ends at the seaside.
☛In addition, its architecture is as interesting as that of the neighboring Gothic Quarter: the former medieval hospital became a library, the former Casa de la Caritat (charity house) today an exhibition center (CCCB) or the very modern MACBA by Richard Meier. Actually the Raval is a cultural reference in Barcelona. Artists and artisans have their workshops and galleries in the neighborhood. We invite you to visit one to get up-to-date with the latest arts and crafts news in Barcelona.
☛Finally, its history: following its proximity to the Port, it was the old hot district of Barcelona. A transformation was started for the 1992 Games and today it is a very cultural and trendy neighborhood in Barcelona. The Boqueria market and the Botero Cat in Rambla del Raval are two icons of the area.
How does the visit of Montjuic and the Miró Foundation work?
Following the walk through the Raval, the funicular will leave you in Montjuic. It is part of the public transport network of Barcelona, that’s why the tickets of public transport are valid to take it. Once in Montjuic, you will enjoy a guided tour of the Miró Foundation where you won’t queue thanks to our guide’s badge. We, the licensed guides, can use a specific entry to us. Your Barcelona English speaking guide will show you the life and work of Miró as well as his connection with Barcelona.
This tour ends with a nice stroll towards the Magic Fountain and the amazing views over the city.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!
We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!
We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
