A Premium Experience

History, gastronomy, and wine are the three essential pillars to understanding Barcelona—and, more importantly, to truly experiencing it.

As you explore the Gothic Quarter with your local guide, you will discover the city’s Roman origins and its medieval golden age. Our itinerary weaves through history, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Cathedral, Plaça del Rei (King’s Square), the Old Jewish Quarter, and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi.

The second highlight of this tour is its culinary soul. Between historical insights, we will visit authentic, family-run venues to experience a cornerstone of local culture: the art of conversation over a table laden with exceptional food.

After the lunch, a private vehicle with a professional driver will take you to a winery to enjoy the best cavas (the local sparkling wine, crafted using the same traditional method as Champagne) and wines in the Penedès region.

In this tour you will:

  • Explore the historic heart of Barcelona and its fascinating heritage.

  • Discover unique, centuries-old gourmet establishments.

  • Savor a traditional tasting of premium local delicacies.

  • Visit an exclusive, family-run Cava estate.

Old Barcelona Foodie Tour & Winery -step by step-

You’ll meet your local guide at your accommodation to head towards the Old City. Depending on this location you’ll take a taxi, the subway or you’ll just walk towards it. Once there, you’ll plunge in the history of this vibrant city learning all about the Cathedral, the King Square, the Old Jewish Area and Santa Maria del Pi. Along the stroll you’ll visit some gourmet shops which at least will surprise you.

After nourishing your mind with history, it’s time to delight the palate. We will stop at a historic deli (since 1931) to sample the very best of Catalan gastronomy. Your guide will curate a selection of delicacies to ensure a truly memorable lunch.

Following lunch, a private chauffeur will take you to an exquisite Cava winery in the Penedès region. At this family-run estate, you will learn about their heritage and the méthode traditionnelle used to produce world-class sparkling wine—the same prestigious method used in Champagne. The visit concludes with a guided tasting of three of their finest labels.

Is the food included in the price?

Yes. The prices change according to the number of people in your party. We prefer to include food this way you know the final price. However, drinks and food won’t be ordered beforehand. Once you arrive to each venue, the guide will give you the options you have to find what best suits your palate. One advice: be adventurous! We’re sure you’ll make amazing discoveries.

How do you select the venues to stop?

Eating and drinking! We go there, we eat, we drink, and (very important) we pay. And if we love it, we take travellers like you. Besides, we do not take any commission to take you there.

Does the guide come with us to the winery?

Yes, of course. Your local private guide will be with you from the beginning to the end of this tour. The meeting point will be at your accommodation and the tour ends there as well. However, if you prefer to end in another place, just let us know.

Are you on a cruise-ship?

In this case, the meeting point would be at the Pier. The guide will wait for you at the exit of the ship holding a sign with your name on it. In order to make the most of the tour, you will reach the starting point by taxi.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!

We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
