Discover the Raval district of Barcelona

If you are looking for culture in Barcelona, one of the densest neighborhoods is the Raval. And it’s so much by the number as by the diversity. Indeed, one can find contemporary art galleries, fashion workshops with their own manufacturing, as well as good offices workshops.

In Barcelonina we will open the doors of these workshops to know the different arts and crafts. In addition, the Raval is a district steeped in history and we will see some of its remains, such as the Casa de la Caritat, the hospital of Santa Creu or the monastery of Sant Pau del Camp.

You will meet your guide at the reception of your accommodation to go together to the Raval District (if your accommodation is a bit out of the way, you will take the metro or a taxi). Once there, get ready to explore one of the most authentic neighborhoods of the city: its architecture, its multicultural atmosphere and its heritage will show you a face of Barcelona almost unknown.

What will we see on Barcelona Raval Area?

The Tallers Street will welcome you to the district to take you to the old Casa de la Caritat, now the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). This is where you will know the history of Barcelona Raval district, which has a strong relationship with health and charity. Then you will explore one of the most beloved Gothic buildings in Barcelona: the former Hospital of the Holy Cross. In fact, personalities like Ramón y Cajal or Le Corbusier have a strong relationship with the place. The explanations of your local guide in Barcelona and the setting will take you to the Middle Ages, one of the golden eras of the city.

After experiencing the story, characters and anecdotes about the old Hospital, your steps will take you to the Rambla del Raval, the last of the Ramblas opened in Barcelona is that has become a very trendy place. The monastery of Sant Pau del Camp (Saint Paul of the Field) awaits you to transport you even further in the past, towards the Barcelona of the 10th century.

And when will we see the Raval workshops?

During your walk with your guide in Barcelona, you will visit three of the workshops in the Raval district. Here are some examples.

⇒Jorge in his stained-glass workshop will discover a job with a very important relationship with Antoni Gaudi and Modernism and his sympathy will make you love the job.

⇒An enthusiastic team will talk about his project related to fashion and confection. They make on-site clothes that were designed by themselves and created a workspace for draughts men and tailors. Everything Made in Barcelona.

⇒ Isabel and his team are waiting for you in El Lavadero to show you how to create a unique and unique jewelry. In addition, the space has a lot of history since it had been a laundry.

Anna was great! She was informative without being boring, catered to our specific sight-seeing requests, and kept us fully enlightened and entertained. How this woman has so much knowledge, I don’t know! She literally had the answer to every single question we had. We stopped for a coffee mid-way as she could sense we were getting tired from walking and I enjoyed chatting to her socially. I 100% recommend her for anyone going to Barcelona!

We engaged Anna for a 3 days private tour in Barcelona. She is very dedicated and knowledgeable on every places of interest in Barcelona. When my child wasn’t feeling too well during the trip, she was flexible and accommodative to our last minute changes and requests. My family truly enjoyed our trip in Barcelona and had a wonderful time spent with Anna. If you are looking for customized private tour, Anna will be the best person to engage!!

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.
