What else are we going to see?

Art Nouveau or Modernism beyond Gaudi

After exploring the Sagrada Familia, we will go to the Paseo de Gracia to admire its architecture and to discover the bourgeois atmosphere of Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century. The facades of Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and Casa Amatller are part of the Barcelona of 100 years ago, when the big bourgeois families decided to show their success through the construction of dream homes. Sculpture, ceramics, ironwork and mosaics were very decorative arts at that time. You will also discover that there were other architects as important as Gaudi who marked the history and architecture of Barcelona. Domenech i Montaner (author of the Palace of Music and Hospital of Saint Paul) and Puig i Cadafalch (author of the Plaza Catalunya and Casa Amatller) accompanied Gaudi in the transformation of the city.

In addition, beyond the architecture and urban planning, your guide will reveal the history of the Barcelona families of the time.
The tour ends in Passeig de Gracia or in your accommodation and depending on the location of this last one, the route might change.

We concur with all the previous wonderful reviews of Anna and her team. We ended up having three tours with Anna and each one was different, informative and superb. If you would prefer to soak in the city and keep your nose out of the guide books and maps contact Barcelonina. Our trip to Spain had been derailed but once we contacted Jordi, everything started to improve.. These folks have it together, make great suggestions on what to do and are patient with letting you make up your mind. Barcelona would not have been nearly as fascinating without them.

Our tour, just the two of us, my wife and I, was one of our real highlights from Barcelona. Anna, has a wealth of knowledge, she is personable and charming, and we would heartily recommend a tour with her to everyone who loves culture, art, history, architecture and the life of this great city.

This was our second visit to Barcelona with teens. The key difference in our trip this time was private tours that were geared toward our grandsons particular interests. From its Roman history, to the Picasso museum, to the Sagrada Família, we enjoyed our two tours. We also loved the Casa Camper hotel – great location and snacks all day – what teen doesn’t love that!
